STATE REP RACE How To Submit Your Questions For The Debates

first_imgWILMINGTON, MA — Debates for the State Representative Race in the 19th District are taking place on August 21 and August 22. WCTV, along with debate partners the Wilmington Apple and Lowell Sun, want to hear YOUR questions for the candidates.There are a two types of questions wanted:Written: Submit a 1-2 line question. Be sure to include your name and home town, as well as whether you want the question asked during the Republican debate, Democratic debate or either one.Video: Want to increase your chances of seeing your question asked during the debate? Record a VIDEO on your phone and send it in. Please keep your questions to under 20 seconds. And again, be sure to give your name and home town. (For best results, record your questions in a quiet space and turn your phone sideways.)How can you get your questions to us?Social Media: Send a Direct Message on either Facebook or Twitter to WCTV’s account. Or just post a comment under one of WCTV’s election stories on Facebook; or tag WCTV on Twitter. They’ll see it!Email: Send emailed questions to Please write DEBATE QUESTION in the subject line.At WCTV: Drop them written questions at WCTV’s station (10 Waltham St.) or arrange to have your video recorded at the studio. Simply contact WCTV about a time you can stop by and staff will take care of the rest.Who’s deciding whether my question is asked?WCTV’s Executive Director Shaun Neville is organizing all questions that come in. He, along with Tom Zuppa from the Lowell Sun, Robert Hayes from the Wilmington Apple and Katie Lannan from State House News Service will select the ones they feel fit best into the debate format.Are candidates getting these questions in advance?While candidates are free to browse WCTV’s Facebook page for comments, they are NOT seeing these questions ahead of time.WCTV’s hope is that this format allows the VOTERS to ask many of the questions for the debates.
